Looking Back

11 06 2008

These last four years of high school went by so fast. I can still remember the first day of freshmen year and how scared and nervous I was. Senior year seemed like it would never come, but it did really fast. I still  remember looking up and thinking they looked so much older than us. I couldn’t wait to be a senior and be able to do everything they did. Now I am and I really don’t see how it is that much different from any other year. However I will miss a lot of things and I always will remember what high school was like.

One thing that I will miss is that the teachers probably won’t know me on a personal level anymore. The school work also will probably a lot harder and more time will need to be spent on doing it. I also think that I will miss not being a kid anymore. I think going to college you have to grow up, even if it’s only a little bit. You have to want to learn because teachers won’t be there pushing you to do it or give you a second chance to get it done.

Since freshmen year, I also have changed a lot. I didn’t know who I was. I kind of just followed everyone else and did what I thought was “cool”. I think now I know who I am and I do what I want to do. I don’t know when I figured out who I was, it just kind of happened through the years. I stopped caring so much about what other people think of me and I started to care what I though about me.

I think as the years went by I became more separated from the people that go to west. I had many friends throughout the years, but we would get in fights, grow apart or just begin to totally hate each other. That is one thing I regret. I wish I could be friends with everyone from freshmen year on. Now at the end of senior year I have came to the conclusion that there are only a couple of people I consider friends from West.  I think that a lot of other people feel the same way too, sadly.

I will miss West Seneca West SHS, but I am ready to move forward and begin a new chapter in my life. It is sad that it is already over and how I will probably never see a majority of these people again. It was fun while it lasted and overall high school was a great experience.
